About This Project

These homeowners wanted to update their galley kitchen and replace their white laminate cabinets—but mostly they wanted to install Viking appliances. They also wanted to improve its functionality, but they did not want to increase the square footage. Because the owners wanted a 48” Viking range and there was not enough room where the cooktop was, we relocated it between the windows and relocated the dishwasher to the right of the sink.

There is a concealed Viking warming drawer near the range, and a Viking beverage center in the bar. The kitchen was completed with Franke sinks and faucets. A stainless steel Viking refrigerator was installed in the same refrigerator location with a Viking convection microwave built-in beside it.

Rich Shcrock cherry cabinets were chosen in a Whiskey black glazed finished for an old world look and they were topped with Golden Noir granite. A raised bar provides extra seating and is a favorite hangout for family and friends. There is plenty of storage with pocket doors under the microwave, a tambour unit tucked beside the left window, rollouts, lots of drawers and even a bookcase at the end of the peninsula. Some of the wall cabinets were increased to 15” deep to accommodate large plates. The pantry door was replaced with matching cabinet doors.

The homeowners enjoy gourmet cooking with their new Viking appliances and love how everything is conveniently and logically located.
