Bathroom Remodeling Into A Elegant Rutt Bath

The object of this master bath remodel in Atlanta was to open up the compartmentalized space, and create an updated, luxurious bath.

In order to open up the space it was necessary to remove a load bearing wall and install a LVL beam. We also moved the wall to the right of the tub 5’ into the closet to create symmetry around the MTI Melinda soaker free-standing tub. We installed a new pocket door to the closet at the right of the tub. Two new windows were installed to the left and right of the bathtub with custom bench seats and storage below them. The skylight over the MTI bathtub area was extended into a deep trey to increase the natural light.

The results of the project are dramatic from the columned entrance to the focal point of the bathtub. We opened the space and greatly increased the visibility and light. The vanity area was improved with greater accessibility by removing the angles that squeezed the space and elongating the walls for greater roominess and storage. Custom cabinets by Rutt Handcrafted Cabinetry in a linen finish with gray glaze were installed and set off with honed Blue Oyster granite tops. The new free-standing soaker tub sits in a dramatic setting like a stage set with convenient benches and wonderful light from the enlarged skylight. The shower, instead of being completely walled in, is now enlarged and includes a steam unit.

The clients were very pleased with the outcome.
